Paul Evans
Dr Paul Evans
Paul Evans is a Gateshead GP in a practice that has refused to accept the idea that patients in deprived urban areas can be adequately cared for by less-qualified professionals. He is pro-vaccination, anti-health-inequalities and a proponent of the 'Safer Surgeries' campaign, helping embed this around Tyneside to ensure that refugees and those fleeing domestic violence without documentation can access healthcare.
As a military veteran he has a staunch commitment to care for those who have put minds and bodies on the line for the UK. As an ex-member of the Conservative Party, he reluctantly accepts that trickle-down economics will not deliver for them, or for others born in less-favourable economic circumstances. He therefore pledges to campaign for adequate funding for General Practice, for the elimination of tobacco products and for any and all policies which enable those born without substantial means to be born well, live well, age well and die well.
The BMA is a trade union representing and negotiating on behalf of all doctors and medical students in the UK.
